Rules
You as a driver are required to read and understand the rules below. If you have a question - please contact the Rules Admin - Anthony Kastor
1.0 Code of Conduct
#1 Treat your fellow competitors the same way you would like to be treated.
#2 We will not tolerate racism or prejudiced comments towards another competitor, owner, or admin. This will result in an automatic ban.
#3 Keep language as clean as possible. We all swear, But keep it to a minimum, and have a level of maturity.
#4 Tempers flare, it’s part of racing. However, don’t let those tempers flare to the extent of you becoming kicked from the league.
#5 Intentional wrecking will not be tolerated! This is covered more in depth in the penalties section 10.0
#6 There will be a skill gap between the drivers on track, please remember that we all started in this service as a beginner/ novice at some point. If you notice a driver exhibiting beginner driving tendencies, feel free to offer advice, not criticism. This is a league, the more we bring each other up, the better the racing will be.
#7 Race Control will issue directives and penalties before, during, and after races. Failure to follow any instruction given by race control will result in immediate removal from the race session. This will also be reported to the admin team, where further disciplinary action can follow. Race control is here to direct the race, and ensure all penalties are being served correctly.
#8 Lastly, driver recruitment for other leagues will not be tolerated! If you want to advertise for your league, great there are tons of forums to do so. Think about if for a minute, would you want someone coming into your league and taking members from it?
To sum up our code of conduct, Everyone should be here to help one another. Please ask yourself if you can do that, if the answer is yes, WELCOME!
2.0 League Administration
League administration is what keeps this league healthy and fluent. Without administrators, we wouldn’t have a league!
2.1 League Owner
Eric Thaler
Justin Thaler
2.2 Admins
Points - Eric Thaler
Recruitment and Roster - Justin Thaler
League Content - Eric Thaler
Scheduling & Participation - John Bates
Rules - Anthony Kastor
Race Control - Joshua Watt
Social Media - Dustyn Reinstetle
Admins are to assist the league owner in driving league rules. They are here to help run the series.
Do NOT be afraid to race an admin on track. Admins are just like you, a “DRIVER”, if they do something wrong, you should submit an incident.
2.3 Stewards
Stewards are a group of league or non-league members who the admins deemed to be “unbiased” when making decisions on racing penalties. These Stewards are to act as no-one knows who they are. Only Stewards and admins will be in communication. Once an issue has come to an agreement from a Steward, a member of the admin team will discuss the penalty or further action with the parties involved.
3.0 New Members
New members are ALWAYS welcome! No matter what point they enter during a season. Everyone is encouraged to compete with us. Drive smart, and drive clean!
3.1 Equipment
We require that you have a working headset and mic so we can communicate with you during races should something arise. We also do not allow users utilizing gamepads, keyboards, mouses, touchscreens, etc. to race as these are unpredictable and hard for competitors to race around.
4.0 Registration
Drivers are to sign up for the league through the official midwest-motorsports website:
https://www.midwest-motorsports.com/information/sign-up
Prior to registering for the league, please ensure that you have all tracks purchased that your desired series is running, also all applicants must be above the age of 18.

All applications will need to be submitted 48 hours prior to the start of an event in order to make the roster before said event.
5.0 Choosing Manufacturer, Car Number, and Series
When you sign up for the league through our web page, you will select your number during the signup process. Please note, once you submit a car number and manufacturer for the season, you must run this same number and manufacturer until the conclusion of said season. Once the season begins to wind down, we will release the sign up for the next season, which will allow for number and manufacturer changes.
5.1 Things to consider before registering in a series..
You do not need to sign up for all series in order to be a member in the league, however, if signing up for multiple series, you will need to ensure that the manufacturer is the same between all series i.e. If running Chevy in Cup, you will be required to run Chevy in Trucks. The same rule will apply to car numbers as well.
6.0 Race Sign
6.1 Race Sign in
Every race will be posted in #race-sign-in. You must react in order to obtain all points. Please react using the below Emoji’s:
Joining the race = 🏎
Not Joining = ❌
If we do not see a reaction, we are just going to assume you are NOT using a provisional nor making the race.
If you are not racing that week, there is no need to contact an admin, just react appropriately.
6.2 Race Sign in and Attendance Policy
Race sign-in closes ten minutes prior to the race server opening. This allows our admin team to collect the list of drivers in a timely manner. You must sign in before it is removed.
If you react to the sign in that you will be participating, and you do not show for the race, you will receive and EOL for the next race you join and will start behind anyone else with penalties.
Attendance Policy
It is your responsibility to indicate whether you are racing, or not participating in the race. Please see the penalties section 10.2 for attendance penalties
7.0 Racing
A quick drivers meeting will be held with all drivers. This will start at 9:45 EST - Trucks/ and 7:15 EST - Cup.
It is your responsibility as a driver to attend these drivers meetings. During these meetings, conduct for pit road entry and exit, along with other important track notes are discussed.
7.1 Setup
Setup will be Fixed. These setups will be the ones created by iRacing, so if you were to practice before the race (which is highly recommended) you can use their setup to do so. Setups for each track will be posted on the schedule for each week.
7.2 Weather
Weather will be “Generated Weather” with “Dynamic” skies.
7.3 Practice
Practice will be open to all competitors before qualifying. Rules are not enforced during practice, however, remember your fellow competitors are trying to practice as well, so don’t be an asshole.
7.4 Qualifying
Qualifying will start at 7:20pm Eastern Time for Cup
Qualifying will start at 9:50pm Eastern Time for Trucks
All Qualifying is lone. Road Courses will have 10 minutes allotted for qualifying, all other tracks will be reduced to 5 minutes of qualifying time. Races will proceed immediately following the qualifying segment.
7.5 Race Length
See Schedule posted in discord for Race Lengths and Stages.
7.6 Fuel Load & Tire Sets - Cup
Fuel load for cup races to be set at 40%. Tire sets will differ for each race and will be listed in the #Race-Sign-in.
7.6.1 Fuel Load & Tire Sets - Trucks
Fuel load for Truck races to be set at 60%. Tire sets will differ for each race and will be listed in the #Race-Sign-in.
7.7 Repairs
Cup - One fast repair per race session.
Trucks - One fast repairs per race session
7.8 Start/Restart
Race starts will be dictated by the green flag. The leader will then bring the field to the green flag. You MUST hold pace, and a reasonable distance from the car in front.
Absolutely no backing off from the car in front to get a “run”
NO CHANGING lanes and NO PASSING the car IN front of you until after the start finish line.
ALL RESTARTS WILL BE REVIEWED AFTER THE RACE BY ADMINS
Please review and understand the penalties assessed for pacing infractions, these can be found in section 10.0 Penalties.
CHOOSE RULE:
Leader will have the right to switch lanes on restarts and stages only. When bringing the field to the green flag to start the race, the front row will remain in their assigned lanes. Any restart following the start of the race will allow the leader lane selection. Lane choice must be announce after the one to go signal crossing the start finish line.
iRacing controlled Restart Zones are only used during mile and a half speedways to Super Speedways. For any other track, the leader must maintain pace speed and only accelerate inside the restart zone to take the green flag. No restart zones for road courses as there are no yellows and the start of the race is on the green flag.
Double file restarts will be used in both race starts and stage starts.
Single file restarts will only be utilized at Race Controls discretion.
7.9 Cautions
Race Control is responsible for waving the yellow flag to indicate a hazard on the track. The following will be grounds for a caution flag to be waved in an oval race.
Multi car wrecks with two or more vehicles involved.
Single car accident resulting in a hazard on the racing surface.
The following will not result in a caution flag.
Single cars spin off of racing surface onto apron.
The racer is expected to return to pit road or rejoin the racing surface in a safe manner.
Any wrecks that occur during the final lap, will not and cannot warrant a caution flag.
In the event @admin - Race Control is not available for said race, we will revert back to iRacing called cautions
Lucky Dog must pass high and announce that you are doing so on iRacings @drivers' channel. If a driver does not follow the aforementioned procedures, a warning will be issued.
There will be NO Wave arounds given at any point during the race unless Race Control deems necessary. Please DO NOT ask for a Wave Around.
During single file, maintain a distance of 2 car lengths from the driver in front.
Once one to go signal is thrown, we will go double file.
7.10 Green White Checker
Midwest Motorsports will put into place one attempt at a GWC per race, in an attempt to avoid any unnecessary incidents or overly aggressive driving creating a caution, thus prolonging the end of the race.
During the one attempt at a GWC, IF the yellow flag is thrown during the green flag lap prior to the white being taken by the leader, the race will end at that point.
Scoring for the end of the race will be determined via replay at the time of the caution.
All incidents during the GWC that are deemed detrimental to race conduct will be reviewed following the race.
All incidents during this review are subject to penalites issued for simialr infractions, or last place points for the event.
7.11 Competition Caution
Each scheduled race will feature one competition caution, please see the schedule for your respective series to see which lap the caution will be thrown.
Oval races will operate as a normal caution, pace car will be deployed, and cars can pit as needed.
Road races will also implement one competition caution per race. Race Control will announce over the comms that the leader needs to drop to pace speed, until the pace car passes the leader. The rest of the field must catch the pace car and leader, then fall into single file behind the leader and pace car. The pace car will then proceed back into the pits, at which point they will announce that the leader then controls the start of the race.
If a natural caution occurs within 5 laps of the competition caution being deployed, the natural caution will replace the competition caution. Race control will announce when this occurs.
** Race control will also announce what lap the competition caution will be thrown during the drivers meeting prior to the race **
7.12 Pitting
If you are pitting under a green flag, you must verbally announce on iRacings @drivers channel (example : “car number 2 pitting this time by”). This MUST be done on the backstretch before entering the access to pit road.
When entering pit road you must remain in the outside lane until you are within 3-4 boxes from your pit stall. Same goes for exiting pit road. Pitting under caution does not require an announcement.
When exiting pit road, you must follow the pit line until you pass the blue cone. If you do not follow this, iRacing will issue you a black flag for an unsafe pit exit. Once you are past the blue cone, you may enter safely on the back stretch.
Upon entering the track with cars present, you must yield to their line.
7.13 Black Flags
Black Flags will NOT be cleared, unless you shoot down pit road to avoid a wreck or another driver does not pass you when iRacing asks them to under caution. All black flags that are requested to be cleared, will be reviewed following the race. Please announce your car number when requesting a black flag be cleared.
If found that a driver requests to have a black flag cleared which was issued due to driver error (Speeding in pits, passing under yellow intentionally, exceeding max incidents, etc.) the driver will be docked 10 points, and will serve a drive through penalty following the first lap of the following race.
Black Flags WILL NOT be cleared for restart zone infractions.
7.14 Lapped Cars
Race Control will announce lap car lanes during the drivers meeting. Meaning if you are a car that is a lap down and approached by leaders, you are to be in the designated lane. This will be a driver policed policy, incident submissions are recommended.
8.0 Race Chat
Race chatter is to be quiet during the race. You can mic up to apologize or thank a fellow competitor. If you would like to set up a private chat for your team to communicate, please do so to keep @all teams and @drivers quiet. Admins will speak up and ask you to quiet your mic if necessary
Each series also has a race chatter channel located in the respective series discord channel. Drivers can enter these channels and talk freely during the races. Please note that these are not actively monitored by admins.
A warning will be issued for first offense, for using race chatter during a race. Second offense will be issued a drive through penalty, THIRD OFFENSE WILL RESULT IN A RACE SUSPENSION. *** Each penalized offense will include a license strike ***
All Drivers MUST have their radio’s set to @Drivers during the practice and race event. This is to ensure all drivers can communicate pitting in/ out, lucky dog. Driver’s who do not broadcast in @Drivers channel will be informed and issued a warning. Following the issuance of a warning, further disobedience will result in a scaling points penalty for each offense. 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x.
Calling Pace car position is the responsibility of the leader and Race Control ONLY.
9.0 Reporting Incidents
If there is an incident during a league race that you were involved in, that seems more than a race incident or accidental, it is the drivers responsibility to submit an incident submission for the stewards to review. If it is worth your time to complain about, it is worth a submission. (both parties could incur penalties)
Incidents can be reported using the google form in Discord Channel #Incident-Submission.
**** In order to submit an incident for review, you must also attach a video clip of the incident for the stewards to review as well ****
Some incidents during the race, may be tagged to be reviewed immediately following the conclusion of the race. This will be carried out at Race Controls discretion.
Incident reports may be submitted up to 24 hours following a race. After 24 hours have passed, we will no longer accept incident requests from that race.
Once incidents are received, they will be fed to our Stewards. Once an issue has come to an agreement from Stewards, an admin will discuss the penalty or further action with the parties involved. If no penalty is to be issued, we will notify you of this. If a penalty is being assigned, we will notify both parties.
This submission is not just for Incidents, if you observe a rule infraction, an incident submission is the platform to voice those. Race Control cannot see everything on each night. We put the power of the rule book in the hands of our drivers to police themselves.
10.0 Penalties
Penalties work as a point deduction within the current series in which your violation occurred.
The following are league rules and definitions as to what could cause a competitor to incur a penalty. - NOTE: There may be an instance that is not covered in this rulebook, as such occurrences happen the rulebook will be updated with notes sent to the community.
10.1 Intentional Wrecking
35-point deduction and an EOL start in the next 2 races.
This penalty will follow the same guideline if the field is under caution.
If a competitor is found to have committed multiple offenses during a race, they will be booted from session and placed on probation until informed otherwise by the admin team.
10.2 Attendance Policy Penalties
After 3 consecutive weeks of not RACING, it is suggested you reach out to an admin if you wish to remain in the league
Signing in to a week's race as “not-attending” does not circumvent the attendance policy
If an admin does not hear from you within the 4-week window, you will be removed from the league
If you sign up for a race, and you do not take part in that race, you will receive a 5-point penalty
If you do not sign up for a race, and you do take part in that race, you will receive a 5-point penalty
10.3 Start and parks
Any competitor who leaves the session prior to completion of the competition caution, will be determined as a start and park
Repeated start and park, or not finishing an entire race within reason will result in a - 5 point deduction for every offense.
Any penalties that were served at the beginning of a race, will be re issued if a start and part occurs to attempt to clear said penalties. All drivers with penalties are expected to complete up to the competition caution in order for penalties to be satisfied.
10.4 Pacing penalties
Faking an entry onto pit road under caution will result in a drive through penalty - Race Control/ Admin discretion.
Backing off or leaving an excessive gap in order to get a run on the vehicle in front of you, will result in a drive through penalty in the next scheduled race. This will be served under a green flag.
Changing lanes or passing the car in front of you, prior to crossing the start finish line, will result in a drive through penalty in the next scheduled race. This will be served under a green flag.
All contact between cars while starting/restarts/pacing will be sent to stewards for further investigation.
- First offense Drive through and 1 license strike
- Second Offense 1 lap hold and 2nd license strike
- Third offense License strike coming to 3 Strikes. (See Licenses strike tier below)
Failure to maintain pacing speed will result in a one lap hold. - Race Control Discretion
10.5 Racing penalties
Passing below the yellow line at superspeedways is not acceptable. Penalty could result in an EOL, or a last place finish.
Failure to maintain a reasonable race pace will result in a one lap hold. - Race Control Discretion
Driving backwards on the track will result in an immediate ban from the current race, and indefinite suspension from future races.
Arguing with Race Control regarding penalties levied, will result in an immediate ejection from the race, with the possibility of further discipline...
10.6 Clean Starts Rule
Oval tracks anyone found to have caused a caution within five laps of a start/ restart will receive a pitlane start in the following race. (No Qualifying)
Road tracks anyone found to have caused a car-to-car 4x incident within one lap of a start/ restart will receive a pitlane start in the following race. (No Qualifying)
These penalties are non-appealable.
10.7 Racing incident limits
Truck Series incident limits

20x - Disqualification issued to driver. Driver will also receive a Pit Lane Start in the following race.
10.8 Season end penalties
To deter competitors from treating the last race of the season as a throw away race, penalties in the last race of the season will be magnified.
Any violation of the clean starts rule or incident limit resulting in a EOL, Pit Lane start, or DQ will result in a points penalty.
If the violation occurs during normal regulation of the race, a 25-point penalty will be deducted from the competitors season total following the race.
If the violation occurs during overtime, a 35-point penalty will be deducted from the competitors season total following the race.
10.9 Paint Schemes
Drivers using an app for paint schemes must ensure that the paint does not alter or interfere with displaying the league number assigned to your car.
A warning will be issued on the first offense.
Following offenses will be a scaling 2-point penalty... i.e. 2,4,6,8 and so on.
We need to ensure our car numbers are correct and visible, to accurately assess penalties if needed, or convey messages.
10.10 Incorrect Manufacturer Penalty
An EOL will be assessed to a driver if they are found to be using a different manufacturer than what was specified during the sign-up process.
Second offense and on will result in an EOL and scaling point penalty... i.e. 2,4,6,8 and so on.
Again, the manufacturer that you choose to start the season as, you must compete as during the season.
10.11 Blinking Rule
There are three tiers of blinking penalties.
First offense: Race Control will have the blinking driver fall to the tail of the field to avoid any wrecks occurring.
Second offense: Blinking driver will receive an EOL on all restarts, including standard cautions.
Third offense: The blinking driver will be removed from each session they are found to be blinking in, until the issue is resolved.
10.12 Strike Policy
Our league abides by a 3-strike penalty policy.
Strikes can be accumulated through reported incidents, or penalties issued by admins for broken rules.
Once 3 strikes are obtained, you will receive a 2-race ban. Any penalty after 3 strikes will result in a league ban.
Issuance of duplicate penalties
In any instance where a driver is found to infringe on a racing penalty more than once, or multiple infringements resulting in the same penalty outcome. The driver will receive the original intended penalty for the rules broken, along with an enhanced penalty for each duplicate penalty incurred.
EX: Driver causes two accidents in a race within the threshold for the Clean Starts Rule (10.6). The driver will receive a pitlane start (original penalty for breaking the rule the first time) and a drive through penalty (enhanced penalty for breaking the same rule twice in the same race) in the following race.
Race Control can review any incidents it believes to be detrimental to the results of the race. These incidents can be reviewed as they occur, or immediately following the race. Penalties issued for these incidents will be determined at the time of deliberation.
All League issued penalties are Non-Appealable!
11.0 Points
Our points system will be driven through Sim Racer Hub and a link is provided on the official Midwest Motorsports website. In order to receive the no incident bonus and full points for the race, each competitor must complete 70% of the allotted laps.
11.1 Bonus Points
Regular Season
No Incidents - 5 points
Pole - 1 Point
Lap Led - 1 Point
Most Laps Led - 2 Points

12.0 Drop Races
Midwest Motorsports is a league that thrives on participation and clean racing, although we do understand that not everyone can make every race. Each competitor will drop 3 races from the scheduled season. Drop races will work as detailed below.
Each competitor will have 3 of the lowest points scoring races removed from their points totals.
Whether you did not attend the race for some reason or you had a lousy day at the track, the points for these three races will not go against you.
These drop races will be automatically factored in, 4 races before the final race of each series season.
